# By the Room: à la carte single-space cleaning

> Book one space instead of a whole home. Per-room pricing starting at $49, with no whole-home minimum. Pay for the room, not the house.

By the Room lets you book a single space instead of a whole-home clean. Pick just the kitchen, one bathroom, or the basement, and pay only for that. The price is flat and shown before you confirm. Zulma isn't charging sales tax during launch, so the number you see is the number you pay.

## What it costs

Each space is a flat price. Book one, or pick several and the price is simply the sum.

  A +\$15 small-job trip fee applies when your cart (spaces plus add-ons) totals under \$89. It drops off automatically the moment your cart reaches \$89 or more. So a single bedroom comes to \$64 all-in, while a kitchen, or any combination at \$89+, carries no trip fee.

By the Room is a flat product, so there are no same-day-rush, peak-slot, or edge-zone surcharges on à la carte bookings. For the exact total on your selection, use the [live calculator](https://app.zulma.ca).

## How it works

    Select one space or several. The running total updates as you add each one, and you'll see the small-job trip fee appear or drop off as your cart crosses \$89.

  <Step title="Attach any add-ons">
    Add specific tasks like inside oven or interior windows if you want them. These count toward your cart total too.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm and book">
    The all-in price is shown before you confirm. The assigned Pro sees exactly which spaces you booked, so they bring the right time and tools.

## Add-ons attach too

Add-ons work on a By the Room booking just like any other clean. Select them in the booking flow and your total updates in real time.

## When to choose By the Room

    You want a targeted clean of one or two spaces: just the kitchen after a dinner party, one bathroom before guests arrive, or the basement after a project. Pay for that space and nothing else.

    You want several rooms or the full house done in one visit. A [Standard clean](/services/standard-clean) covers the whole home and is the better value once you're cleaning most of it.

<Tip>
  Rule of thumb: a couple of targeted spaces are cheaper By the Room, but once you're adding up most of the house, a Standard clean costs less for more coverage. The calculator shows both, so you can compare before you confirm.

## Good to know

* **One-off only.** By the Room isn't available on a recurring schedule yet. For weekly, biweekly, or monthly upkeep, set up a [recurring](/booking/recurring) Standard clean instead.
* **The Pro sees your exact spaces.** Whatever you select is what the assigned Pro is briefed to clean, no more and no less.
* **No minimum.** Any single space stands on its own. The only floor is the \$15 small-job trip fee on carts under \$89.
