Before anyone shows up at your door, they’ve cleared a six-step process that Zulma runs on every crew member — cleaners and lawn care providers alike. There are no exceptions and no trial runs on real customer homes. Here’s exactly what that looks like.Documentation Index

Criminal record check
Every crew member undergoes a criminal record check before onboarding. Cleaners who enter private homes are subject to a vulnerable-sector check — the more thorough screening required when someone has unsupervised access to a residence. Records are verified and re-run yearly.
WHMIS 2015 certification
Anyone handling commercial cleaning chemicals must hold a current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015) certification. This covers safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous products. Certification is renewed every three years.
Insured and bonded
Every crew member is covered under Zulma’s $2,000,000 Commercial General Liability (CGL) policy, which covers third-party property damage and bodily injury arising from crew negligence on any booking made through the platform. Cleaners who work alone inside homes are also bonded — providing additional protection against theft.
Two reference checks
Two prior employers or clients are actually called — not asked to fill in a form. The focus isn’t credentials; it’s whether this person is reliable and respectful when working inside someone’s home.
Skills check on a real home
A crew member’s first booking is shadowed by a senior crew member who observes the work firsthand. They don’t take solo bookings until they pass that check.
Who’s coming to your home
When your booking confirms, you’re told exactly who to expect: first name, last initial, profile photo, current rating, and the number of homes they’ve cleaned through Zulma. You can view their full profile before they arrive.Certificate of insurance is available on request — email hello@zulma.ca.
